He asked her if she wouldn't let him win. "I don't think it would be fair Kaldur"said Maxine. She was the kind of person that believes taht victories and good things came if you put a lot of effort in them. She would give Kaldur advantage, but she would fight for vicntory too. She smiled when he said that he would go for the win. "That's the spirit Kaldur"said with a big smile. She liked Kaldur's determination it was one of his biggest qualities. There were still chances that Kaldur get the upper hand and win the competiton.
She just missed him by a few inches. She tried to maneuver but the twins bumped her again. Kladur then drive towards her ready to tie with her again. Then the siren sounded again and the cars stopped. In that moment, the red haired girl was bumped again and turn around who was the responsible: it was the little girl. Maxine saw Kaldur walking towards her and offered his hand to help her hop of the car and congratulated her. Maxine accepted it with a small blush in her face. "You have done greatly too Kaldur. I'm sure that next time you'll win"replied the red haired girl. And he had a great sportmanship, he was really amazing. She then saw that the little girl got up form the car with a jump waved the two of them with a big smile and ran towards her parents. "But I think she was the real winner"said laughing and waving back at the little girl.
"I'll try to think in something for my price for the wager, we have a lot of time."said with a smile not forgetting the price of the bet. She would think in something innocent and funny something that Kaldur woulnd't do usually. "Where do you want to go now?"asked the red haired girl interested.

”Next time I will win,” He smirked. All this was the most fun he was having in a long time. He smiled at the young girl as she waved and returned the gesture as she ran off to her parents. ”We are all the real winners. We had fun, that is all that matters…” He paused, ”... Let us pretend like I did not say something so… cheesy? Is that the word…” He was a little embarrassed after saying something so lame like that. If only he could have said it in a cooler manner.
Now his mind was racing, he was wondering what could possibly be Maxine’s wish. He knew it wouldn’t be difficult. ”There is no rush Maxine. Take your time and think about it,” He said, ”Make it good. I do not plan on losing again.” He looked around trying to find where they could go next. After looking around for a moment, he pointed to a haunted house. He had always wanted to see what the big deal with haunted houses was. Honestly, it did not look scary at all. ”Are you alright with going in a haunted house?” |

She smirked too when he said that next he would win. "We'll see that"said with a grin. Usually she wasn't competitive, and she was just teasing a little. What was important is that he had a lot of fun, at first he was a little tense because his worries, and the bumping cars helped him to relax and have fun. As they said goodbye to the little girl, Kaldur said that what mattered is that all had fun... then he said to forget he said something very cheesy. "Don't worry your secret will be safe"said Maxine with a nod. She knew that if Wally find out that Kaldur said something like that, he would tease him till the end of life. "I'll pinky swear"said Maxine as she lifted her little finger to make the deal. "And I'll assure that I've never, never broke a pinky swear"said Maxine with seriousness in her voice. It was true: the few she has sealed in her short life, usually with her father, she has never broke them.
"Thanks for the time and don't worry I'll make sure it's a good wish"said grinning like a cat the red haired girl. It was good that he gave her time to think for a wish, she had to make sure it was a good one, but luckily she had time to think about it. Kaldur then pointed towards a haunted house. Maxine hadn't been in so much, usually because she got a little bored after a while as she considered the light effects and the monsters makeup a little bad. But she had been in a few haunted houses that were funny experiences. "Sure let's do it!"said with a nod as both walked to buy the tickets. It wasn't very crowded so they would enter really soon.

Kaldur wasn't that competitive at all either. It was all just fun and games to him and it didn't matter to him who won. Like he said, it was all about having fun even though it did sound a bit cheesy. Kaldur lifted his pinky finger and locked his finger with hers, sealing their little secret. It was nice to be able to talk to someone and not worry about them telling anyone else. "I trust you, Maxine."
It was then that he realized that he was still holding Maxine's hand from when he helped her out from the car. He smiled slightly before gently letting go of her hand. He placed his hands in his pockets as they both started to walk toward the haunted house. "Do you enjoy being a hero?" He asked, "Is it what you see yourself doing?" |

She nodded and smiled as Kaldur lifted his little finger too and sealed the pact. When he said that he trust her she blushed a little. It was the first time that someone said that she could be trust. Her smile was more open than before and looked at Kaldur again. "Thanks Kaldur. That means a lot for me"replied Maxine.
Both then realized that Kaldur was still holding Maxine's hand and he let her go. Maxine blushed a little more and moved her hair behind her ear, smiling too. As they walked towards the haunted house, her friend asked her if she enjoyed being a superhero. "Yes it has been good. The few times I had been patrolling with Red Tornado or the team, it had been good experiences. I enjoyed spending time with Red Tornado, and after helping people I feel good with myself."said the red haired girl. Which was true. "Well, I always wanted to be a hero like my grandma who was the original Red Tornado, and sometimes I feel like I wont be able to be like her, but after helping people I know that I can do it. And it had helped me to overcome my fears."said referring to her experience with Morrow.
"Besides meeting all my favorite heroes is really cool and amazing. I think that I could handle having a hero life and a civilian life. My other dream would be becoming an actress of theater" said the red haired girl with sincerity. She felt like she could trust Kaldur too in the same way he trusted her. "What about you?asked the red haired girl with interest.

Kaldur noticed that she was blushing, but thought nothing of it. It was cute. He would probably think that anything she did was cute. He listened carefully as she told him her answers. With her it was sort of a legacy, she wanted to be like her grandmother. He understood that pretty well. He was following in the footsteps of his mentor, Aquaman. So he could relate to her in that way. "I believe you will do great Maxine."
Becoming an actress was cool as well. He could actually see Maxine doing that. "I enjoy helping those who can not defend themselves from villains. I realized I have the power to make a difference, even if it is only slightly," He answered, "I can not see myself doing anything other than this." Kaldur took great pride in what he and the rest of the heroes did. He never did it for recongintion. It was always to help those who were innocent and who couldn't defend themselves. "Simple minded, right?" |

She enjoyed being and talking with Kaldur, he was a good listener and always knew what to say. She smiled when he said that she would do it great. "Thanks a lot Kaldur. That means a lot for me"replied the red haired girl. She was sure that he was following the steps of his mentor Aquaman just like she does with her grandma. "I'm sure you'll do great too Kaldur"said Maxine with sincerity. She has never lead anything, but she knew that being the leader was something hard, but she believed that Kaldur would be able to do it.
She then listened to his explanation and nodded with interest. "Nearly everybody has the power to make a difference, but only a few realize it. It's really good that you like helping others"said the red haired. Once she was one of these people that couldn't defend themselves, and know that she can, she would use her powers too to help others, so they wouldn't suffer like she did in the past. She waved her head when he asked if it was simple minded. "Not at all. It's very noble and you have an objective in life. Many people of our age doesn't know what to in their life"she replied. "Besides, you have all the time in the world to discover if you like to do other things."said with a grin.
As they arrived to the haunted house, they paid for the tickets and they started to walk towards the main door.

Kaldur smiled slightly and nodded at Maxine. It was nice that someone else believed in him besides his mentor. Honestly, Kaldur did not mind being in the position of leading the team, but he rather it be Robin. It was just that at the moment Kaldur was best suited to lead the team. But when the time came, he would gladly give over the role to Robin. "I believe that helping defending innocents is my purpose in life."
Honestly, Kaldur could not see himself doing anything other than what he was doing now... Being a hero. Fortunately, he loved what he was doing. Doing something else never really crossed his mind until now. Kaldur simply nodded in agreement with Maxine. She was correct. He had all the time in the world to discover other things he would like to do. As the grew closer to the door Kaldur realized that it seemed to be mostly couples in the line. "Do you scare easily? I have been that haunted house are not that terrifying," He spoke, "It just something that I would like to experience for myself." |

Maxine nodded and smiled. She admired the confidence of Kaldur and she hoped she could be like him. A part of her wasn't still sure if she was doing right but she knew that she would have other members of the team to support her."As I said before that's a noble purpose Kaldur and I'm sure you'll do a great job"replied the red haired girl.
"What is important is that you love and enjoy what you are doing. I'm sure you'll find other things you'll like". She then started to think in an answer when Kaldur asked her if she got afraid easily. "Well...I don't like parrots too much...I guess that when they more or less imitate human words it creeps me out a little... but no Haunted Houses don't scare me at all. And it's okay. Usually people got scared of things and never gave them a try. That means that you have guts, as people says"replied with a chuckle. "When you are ready we'll go in"said with a nod.
